PET PORTRAITS
My pet portraits go beyond simply capturing a breed; they aim to embody the unique spirit of your beloved companion. If you’re interested in commisioning a portrait, please reach out to me through my contact page.
Paintings are made from your quality photos or if you’re local I can photograph your pet for a fee. Once I have photos to work from and a 50% deposit, oil portraits will usually be completed within a week or two. The remainder of the fee is due on your approval of a photo I email to you. Please allow one additional week for drying time and varnish before shipping (or hand delivered if you’re local). Larger scale commissions are possible and will take longer to complete. My portraits are painted on cradled wood panel that has been sealed with several layers of gesso and the final is varnished. Prices listed are for portrait of a single pet usually of their head and bust. If you’d like a size not listed or would like to have other pets, humans or other objects in your painting just ask, and I will give you a quote.

Things to keep in mind when taking photos:
- No flash. Daylight is usually the best.
- Best if light is coming from one side so that there is a shadow side.
- Multiple photos is best. Even if you have one great shot it is very helpful to have several other angles to give me a better sense of the pet’s shape and true color. A few close ups of the face is helpful too!
